#on half of a dose of your antibiotic prescription

I saw my new PCP on Monday and got the fun job of explaining my conditions. I’ve previously had doctors who ignored my needs or told me to lose weight, so it’s scary to have to try to convince them that, yes, I am very sick, too sick to work, but I don’t want to be that sick. I miss working. I miss keeping my mind engaged.
So I decided to preface everything with, “You know, a year ago I was a professor at a state university, living in my own apartment. Before I got sick I used to go to a ton of events and travel places. And I spent so much energy pushing through to try to keep going that I burned myself out. Now I am in so much pain and have so much brain fog that even getting out of bed is a challenge. It feels like my life has crumbled around me, and I want to get it back.”
And then I discussed my medical history, what I’ve done to get treatment so far (getting on Medicaid, getting a behavioral health specialist, a dermatologist, a rheumatologist, etc., all involving dozens of phone calls each just to find someone who specializes), the setbacks I’ve faced and how it’s changed how I face seeking healthcare (that all my providers are women is not an accident), and the medications I’m currently taking and what they’re for. How I discovered I can’t have sulfa antibiotics.
It’s a lot—just the medications, I take a biologic injection every two weeks, 2 anxiety medications, an antidepressant that also helps with fibromyalgia, a controlled substance for my pain (NOT an opioid), a medication to control my insulin resistance, an anti-inflammatory, a low dose of antibiotics, and blood pressure medication. Oh right, and birth control, which is supposed to help with the HS. That’s just the prescriptions—I take OTCs and supplements that are meant to help keep my conditions under control because I researched copiously while trying to push through.
How long it took me to be diagnosed with HS (despite telling my PCP at the time I thought I had it, I was diagnosed on sight by a gynecologist two years later, who then referred me to a dermatologist), and the story of how I realized something was terribly fucked up with my body. The struggles with pain. How I take cannabis but hate that it doesn’t allow me to have a clear mind. The years of insomnia, which is a symptom of multiple conditions I have.
I have so many horror stories about my health that my horror stories have horror stories, and those are fun to relate, in graphic detail so they know exactly how bad it is.
It’s this fucked up cycle of having to convince a doctor you’re sick (apparently they don’t want to believe you if you say you are) and actually get treatment, except you get stuck on step 1 because everything must be weight-related and therefore I should just lose weight.
I been fat my whole life. This other shit is new. Catch up.
But then they get mad if you’re “difficult” aka advocating for your health.
Knowing that nearly everyone with chronic illnesses goes this, and even worse than me typically, is distressing.
I knew my chronic pain was fibromyalgia because my mom struggles with it and eventually got diagnosed after being told half her life it was in her head. I was lucky. I have to consider inheriting a debilitating illness from my mom lucky because at least I knew what it was from her experiences.
Every new doctor I see, I feel like I have to vet for egotism because that’s generally the mark of a hot dog who won’t listen or care.
All I really want is treatment so I can maybe get my life back.

Buy Slimtop Online for Safe, Effective Weight Loss with Fast Delivery and Trusted Sources
In today’s digital era, buying medications online has become a convenient option for many. Whether you're managing weight, treating bacterial infections, or handling persistent conditions, online pharmacies have made it easier to access quality medications. This blog explores how to buy Slimtop online, and also dives into important antibiotics like Azeetop tablets, Doxycycline tablets, and Ciprofloxacin tablets—including their uses, benefits, and precautions.
What is Slimtop and Why Buy Slimtop Online?
Slimtop is a popular weight management pill that typically contains Orlistat, a substance used to treat obesity by blocking the absorption of fat in your diet. It is widely used under medical supervision to aid in long-term weight loss strategies.
Benefits of Slimtop:
Reduces dietary fat absorption by up to 30%
Supports weight loss when combined with exercise and a reduced-calorie diet
Helps in improving overall metabolic health
When you buy Slimtop online, you gain access to convenience, privacy, and often more competitive pricing compared to traditional pharmacies. Online platforms also allow for better comparison, reviews, and direct-to-door delivery.
Azeetop Tablets: An Effective Antibiotic
Azeetop tablets are a brand of Azithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. These include respiratory tract infections, skin infections, and some sexually transmitted diseases.
Why Choose Azeetop Tablets?
Broad-spectrum activity against bacteria
Fewer doses required due to its long half-life
Effective for acute and chronic infections
Azithromycin is also part of many COVID-19 treatment regimens, although it's important to take it under the guidance of a licensed healthcare professional. When sourcing Azeetop tablets, ensure that you're purchasing from a certified online pharmacy to avoid counterfeit drugs.
Doxycycline Tablets: Versatile and Reliable
Doxycycline tablets are part of the tetracycline antibiotic family. They are widely used to treat conditions such as acne, urinary tract infections, intestinal infections, eye infections, and more. It’s also a preventive treatment for malaria and Lyme disease in high-risk areas.
Key Benefits of Doxycycline Tablets:
Broad-spectrum antibacterial effect
Available in various strengths
Effective in treating respiratory and zoonotic diseases
While effective, Doxycycline tablets should be taken as prescribed, as misuse can lead to antibiotic resistance—a serious public health concern.
Ciprofloxacin Tablets: High-Efficacy Antibacterial Solution
Ciprofloxacin tablets are a type of fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to treat severe bacterial infections such as UTIs, bone and joint infections, and some gastrointestinal infections.
Advantages of Ciprofloxacin Tablets:
Highly potent and fast-acting
Available in both oral and IV forms
Effective in multidrug-resistant bacterial strains
However, Ciprofloxacin carries potential side effects like tendon rupture and should be used with caution, particularly in older adults or those with kidney issues. When ordering Ciprofloxacin tablets, always ensure the legitimacy of the online pharmacy to maintain safety and efficacy.
How to Safely Buy Medications Like Slimtop, Azeetop, Doxycycline & Ciprofloxacin Online
While buying medications online has numerous advantages, safety is paramount. Here are tips to keep in mind:
Choose a licensed pharmacy: Look for sites with verified credentials and customer reviews.
Check for a prescription requirement: Legitimate pharmacies will require a valid prescription.
Avoid “miracle cures” or unverified products: These could be dangerous or ineffective.
Look for contact info and real-time support: Reliable sites offer customer service and pharmacist consultations.
Buying Slimtop online and sourcing trusted antibiotics like Azeetop tablets, Doxycycline tablets, and Ciprofloxacin tablets can streamline your healthcare journey, but always verify the source and consult with your doctor.
Common Side Effects & Interactions
Slimtop:
Oily stools
Flatulence
Abdominal discomfort
Azeetop (Azithromycin):
Diarrhea
Nausea
Stomach cramps
Doxycycline:
Sun sensitivity

when the medications you need to take to get better make you sick, but your mom and doctors tell you that they’re supposed to make you sick before you get better, but it’s the wrong kind of sick, which means you’re not handling them well, and you’re panicking because you don’t know what to do because you can’t live with this kind of sick daily and your mom and doctors are getting more and more frustrated with you for not being med-compliant but you need help to stay med compliant and meds that don’t make your life insufferable, and you’re scared for what the next line of treatment might be since your body isn’t tolerating this kind of treatment anymore
#I hate Lyme Disease and it’s fucking treatment I hate it so fucking much#my body can’t handle oral antibiotics anymore and I’m freaking out#because I’ve already stopped treatment for like a year or two and have been inconsistent with it and STILL your stomach gets destroyed#on half of a dose of your antibiotic prescription#I don’t know what the fuck is gonna happen and I’m so scared#I know my Lyme doctor is really frustrated with me for not being med-compliant and not getting good results when I AM med-compliant#but I can’t do this shit anymore#and I’m scared he’ll stop treating me because of my lack of effort and if that happens then I’m screwed he’s the top Lyme doc in my area#and STILL I’m not making much progress#the only next step I can see is getting IV antibiotics and I really really don’t wanna get a PICC line#the thought of a PICC line icks me out I can feel it just thinking about it and I hate it#but my veins are so shitty that I know I can’t get pricked everyday for an IV

Pairing: Bob Floyd x Female Reader
Summary: Bob is willing to rearrange plans when you fall ill on your birthday.
Note: I was inspired to write this piece because today is my birthday and I’m sick. As my mom told me, we all have our own methods for providing ourselves with comfort and writing about beloved Bob does just that for me💛 Thank you for supporting my writing!
____________________________________________
When your eyes flutter open on the day of your birthday, you instantly recognize that something is wrong. Your throat feels tight and when you fetch a glass of water in an attempt to soothe it, it’s akin to swallowing shards of glass. You wince and your shoulders slump because this can only mean one thing: you’re sick. On your birthday.
Fortunately, you had taken the day off from work ahead of time, so you don’t have to worry about that. Nevertheless, you’re disappointed because today is supposed to be a jubilant one; one that entails relaxation and celebration. Not a day that includes being confined to your bed and feeling miserable. As you return to your bedroom, you notice a folded note sitting on your nightstand. It reads, Happy Birthday, Y/N. I wish I could stay at home with you, but I guess I’ll have to settle for spending this evening with you. I love you and can’t wait to celebrate the special woman you are. Love, Bob.
You release a defeated sigh because although it’s your day, Bob is even more excited about it than you. He’s been discussing it for months, hinting at several surprises, but never giving away too much despite your frequent pestering for information. Now the day is ruined and the irony of it all is that you’re the one who ruined your own birthday.
After forcing some food into your system, you get dressed and drive to urgent care. While it’s only fifteen minutes away, the drive feels endless as achiness settles into your legs. An hour later, you leave the facility with a positive result for strep throat and a prescription for potent antibiotics. The line at the pharmacy is lengthy, so you couldn’t be more relieved when it’s finally your turn and your prescription is filled within ten minutes.
Once you arrive home and have taken your first dose of the antibiotics, you consider texting Bob, but decide against it. Bob is a devoted and doting boyfriend, always seeking ways to console, encourage, and support you. However, news like this will likely consume him for the remainder of the day, meaning that it could serve as a major distraction at work. The last thing you want is for Bob’s focus to be compromised, resulting in a trip to the emergency room. Instead, you decide to nestle under your plush comforter and close your eyes for a little while.
When you wake up, your eyes widen at the realization that you slept for almost four hours. You likely would have slept longer if it weren’t for your clammy skin and the persistent achiness in your lower half. You rifle through the tiny closet in your bathroom until you locate the thermometer, which reveals you have a fever of 101.6. Yikes. You take some medicine, hoping that it will reduce your fever before Bob returns because you don’t want him to see you in this state. You look and feel awful.
You try to pass the time by scrolling on various social media apps on your phone and reading a couple of magazines, but your body betrays you as your eyes grow heavy. While you try to fight it, determined to stay awake, you eventually lose the battle and succumb to slumber. You dream of dinner with Bob, holding hands as you each enjoy a glass of wine, laughing about things only the two of you would understand. Visions of you two stealing kisses in his truck, his arm securely wrapped around your shoulder while you slightly tug on the hair at his nape, dance in your mind. The dream is perfect and feels so real that you’re somewhat startled when you’re awoken by the closing of the front door.
“Where’s the birthday girl?” Bob’s exuberant voice echoes through the house and your heart aches at the sound of it. You want to respond, but are incapable of projecting your voice and don’t want to strain it.
“Y/N?” Bob calls once more before you hear the thumping of his feet on the carpeted stairs as he makes his way to your shared bedroom. His smile immediately falls upon seeing you in bed, looking ashen and depleted.
“What’s wrong?” He approaches you and positions himself on the edge of the bed, laying his hand atop yours that is hidden by the comforter.
You hoist yourself up and wince at how much effort it takes to do so. The concern reflected in his eyes only increases, thereby causing you to feel worse. “I didn’t feel well when I woke up this morning, so I went to urgent care and found out I have strep throat. I picked up the medicine for it, but don’t feel a difference yet. I also have a fever.”
“Oh, baby. I’m so sorry.” Bob sits forward and gingerly cups your cheek in his warm, wide palm. “What do you need? A drink? A cool washcloth to bring your temperature down? I can make you soup if you’re hun-“
Your sudden flow of tears interrupts Bob’s endearing rambling. “Baby, why you are crying?” he asks in a voice laced with genuine concern.
You shake your head, your melancholia constricting your throat, making it challenging to speak. You turn your head because you’re embarrassed to be this emotional, especially when he’s being so kind. However, Bob will have none of it. You feel his fingertips upon your chin as he says, “Please look at me, Y/N. You can tell me anything.” When you finally look at him, you’re met with reassuring eyes, eyes that want what’s best for you.
“I feel so badly, Bob. We’ve both been looking forward to this for months and-“ Snot trickles from your nose, but before you can get a tissue, Bob is ahead of you as he returns with the entire box and holds one out for you with an understanding smile. You give him an appreciative one and blow your nose before continuing. “You’ve been especially enthusiastic about celebrating this birthday with me as it’s our first time celebrating as boyfriend and girlfriend and I can’t help but feel…” You momentarily drift off, reluctant to say the last part aloud.
“Can’t help but feel what?” he prompts.
A sigh escapes you and although you’re tempted to avoid making eye contact with him, you force yourself to meet his gaze. “I can’t help but feel that I ruined it. I ruined my own birthday. I ruined our first opportunity to celebrate it as a couple. Worst of all, I ruined it for you.” You sniffle a few times and wipe away the stray tears that begin to travel down your face.
Bob gently takes both of your hands in his own. “First of all, you haven’t ruined anything. It’s not your fault you’re sick. Second of all, today isn’t about me. Yes, I had some things planned, but plans are bound to change. That’s part of life. All this means is that I get to celebrate my best girl another time, on a day that she’s feeling up for it.”
“You’re not…upset with me?”
“Gosh no,” he exhales. “I’m upset for you because you deserve a day that reminds you of the beautiful, intelligent, loving, and special woman that you are to me and so many others that are privileged to be in your life.”
You squeeze his hands and he returns the gesture while his eyes are fixated on you. “Now, how about some chicken noodle soup?”
“Yes, please,” you reply in a grateful voice. He presses a lingering kiss on your warm forehead. “Coming right up,” he answers.
A half hour later, Bob is carrying a tray into your bedroom, the steam from the bowl on it permeating the air. It also contains a tall glass of water with a bendy straw. He must notice you eyeing it because he explains, “I figured it may be easier to sip with a straw.” He carefully places the tray on top of you and folds the napkin on your lap.
“Wait…is this homemade chicken noodle soup?” you ask.
“It is. You can have the canned stuff any other day of the year, but your birthday calls for something more festive.”
“Thank you, Bob. You’re so thoughtful,” you tell him as you caress his cheek, adoringly staring at the man who owns a significant piece of your heart.
“Anything for my girl.” He scoops some of the soup with a spoon and feeds you. You would normally protest such a thing, but realize that while Bob is doing this to comfort you, it also comforts him to know that he’s able to take care of you in a small way. Therefore, you refuse to deny him of such a thing. The soup soothes your throat and tastes just as wonderful as it did the last time Bob made it for the two of you.
Once you finish your soup and Bob takes everything downstairs, he climbs into bed beside you and pulls you to his chest. He buries his face into your neck and peppers it with slow, tender kisses that cause your entire body to relax while ensconced in his arms. You turn your head and whisper, “You’re so good to me, Bob.”
“How can I not be?” he asks. “You’re so good to me.” He begins to lean down to kiss you on the lips, but you rest your palm on his chest to prevent him from going further.
“What are you doing? You’re going to get yourself sick.”
“And deprive myself of kissing you? I’ll gladly take the risk, Y/N.”
Despite being ill, his lips on yours feel right. If someone had told you weeks ago that this is how you would be spending your anticipated birthday, you would have been forlorn. However, as you bask in the safety and happiness of your boyfriend’s arms, disappointment is a foreign feeling because you can’t imagine a love greater than this.

Lots of people are sick this time of year, so it’s a great time to remember that if you get prescribed an antibiotic, YOU NEED TO TAKE IT ALL. Don’t only take half, don’t stop when your symptoms go away, TAKE IT AS DIRECTED AND FINISH THE PRESCRIPTION.
I sometimes see people talking about trying to save antibiotics to save money or give half a dose to a sick family member or friend, but you really really should not do this. The point of antibiotics is to kill the bacteria that’s causing the infection that made you sick. Taking the whole prescription helps ensure that the bacteria is completely wiped out. So what happens if you stop taking them halfway or when you start feeling better? If the bacteria is still in your system, it can keep multiplying and come back and make you sick all over again. And worse, since the bacteria has been exposed to the antibiotic, the bacteria can become resistant to antibiotics, and that’s real bad news. If the bacteria becomes resistant, it’s much much harder to treat, and can get really dangerous really fast. You can end up with sepsis and that shit can do very serious damage to your body if it doesn’t outright kill you.
Don’t fuck around with antibiotics. Take them exactly as directed and call your doctor if you have side effects or start feeling worse. Infections are no joke.

"I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed to set you up on dates, Bethykins. Your brother might actually murder me." Before the server could put the offer into words, Tabby liberated a pair of champagne flutes from his possession, passing one to Beth and keeping the second for herself. Tabby never minded being a Riley-plus-one for these galas, except really, she felt Beth could do better. "But if we were playing hypotheticals, let's see. Definitely no one here, and I wouldn't let my worst enemy near that Bruce Wayne dude without a double dose of antibiotics." Tabby tapped the rim of her glass against pouted lip, trying to aid the thought process. "You deserve someone heroic. Or an actual superhero. Maybe Superman. Or Batman even, as long as he treated you right."
Adventures in Matchmaking || Accepting Tabby is not wrong, in the technicality of her comment. But there's worse things Andy can do than murder someone, and he's elevated being annoying to an artform. This is all case-in-point. He'd accepted the invitation on behalf of the family and a guest, then purposefully guilted her into making the appearance for him when she'd much rather be at home in her pjs, reading the stack of books on her nightstand that have started cultivating their own society they'd been there so long. Not that she doesn't love Tabby or her company. That's the only reason she agreed to go instead of threatening to stab her brother in the kidney. Beth drains half her glass in a single gulp, so very unladylike, and nods her thanks to her friend. Her eyes roll beneath thick, mascara-encoated lashes. "You know, Mistah Wayne's problem is...he's alla Andy's bad traits an' none of da good ones. Broody, moody, brilliant but no sense of humour an' ya right. I would nevah wanna be his personal physician. Dey would investigate my license, for over-writing prescriptions." Maybe the champagne has loosened her tongue. Maybe deep down Beth is just as snarky as her absent sibling. She laughs over the whole metahuman remark. She could never imagine herself being romantically involved in someone whose wardrobe primarily consisted of spandex and masks. "See I jus'...I don' get why people fawn all ovah Supahman. I mean yeah he's an alien, an' by all standards da epitome of whatevah-whatevah...but like... is he even compatible wi' humans? We don' really know anyt'ing about him except he save da world sometimes an' he can fly...but...eh..."
Clearly Beth has given this some thoughts. "Same same for Batman. Also... what's wi' da name? Don' get me wrong, bats are really cute an' really soft, an' very important part of da equal system, but how does dat correlate to a crime-fightah in tights? I don' get it." A longer, more thoughtful pause and she looks Tabby in the eye, her voice quite a bit softer. "I t'ink...for reasons...I would hafta choose da Ali'i of Atlantis, or his rival, King Shark. Although, I've gotta admit, if my preferences were to remain in da realm of mortal man, I sorta kinda hope one day Lex Luthor save a dance for me." They both know though that she's really scanning the crowd for her con-man of a magician, John.

Skincare routine?? I know some of it, but I want all the deets
To be fair it's not really interesting. It's more a very long and convoluted story haha, but I'll be brief¹ ish².
TL,DR: acne + sensitive skin is a fun combo, and less is more, imo.
I was wrong.
Very wrong.
I've always had sensitive skin, but adult/cystic acne hit me hard after I changed my birth control in the second half of my 20s. Most acne products I tried were too harsh on my skin - I've reacted badly even to "sensitive" products and had to run back to the makeup shop after ten minutes for a wipe to remove whatever it was I'd tried and still ended up with a layer or two of skin burnt off and bumps all over my face for a few weeks - so while the benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid etc may have worked for others, for me they just destroyed my moisture barrier and left me with acne AND extremely irritated skin -> worse acne than I had to begin with.
After a year, I went to a dermatologist - cystic acne isn't just a knock to your self esteem, it can actually hurt - and the topical clindamycin helped a bit, but it wasn't enough. The oral antibiotics I was prescribed just made me vomit (hooray, new-found allergy) and the differin gel made me peel like crazy, as we've established my skin had no moisture barrier left.
Eventually, after maybe another year, I tried one of those online prescription delivery services for skin concerns, because I was desperate and figured why the fuck not? I couldn't even wear scarves in winter because they hurt the cysts, and I couldn't cover the acne with makeup, because it just highlighted everything and made my face look ten times worse. I'd tried everything else, nothing worked, and I was miserable.
The prescription worked.
Honestly I cried at one point, I was so relieved. When you have awful cystic acne, you feel gross (or I did, anyway), as if you are being judged for a lack of hygiene when you probably put more effort into keeping your skin clean than most people out there. 😅 It took a wee bit over 6 months, but it eventually cleared up by about 90% (the last 10% healed as the scarring and red marks etc faded). Obviously cystic acne is far from the worst thing out there, but it's still not fun, and some of the looks and questions from strangers - "have you tried drinking ACV?!" - get old quickly.
So, what worked for me back then?
A super duper gentle face wash, no exfoliants or anything else fancy.
The cream I was prescribed was really gentle, too, with small doses of clindamycin, azelaic acid and zinc pyrithione. Once a day.
A light moisturiser over summer, with SPF, or a richer moisturiser over winter, also with SPF.
What works for me now, a few years later?
I still use a gentle face wash - 'La Roche Posay hydrating gentle cleanser' - once a day (or twice if I'm wearing makeup). If not, I use a microfiber towel and water to wash my face before bed. As much as I'd love to steam myself in the shower, too much washing irritates my face in the long run.
I tried a slightly different formulation from the same prescription service for 6 months, with retinol instead, but I was always slightly peeling, my skin never got used to it, so I'm back on the original formula, once a day, and my skin is still clear barring the occasional hormonal pimple.
Over winter I'll add in a serum to boost the hyaluronic acid, because I get very dry very quickly. I really like the 'Intraceuticals' brand, though they aren't cheap, but one bottle lasts me 6 ish months, so it's not awful and I'm happy to splurge.
Currently liking 'The Ordinary Natural Moisturising Factors + HA' over summer, or 'Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre' for winter.
Neither of those moisturisers have SPF, so I use IT Cosmetics CC cream with SPF 50+ for the day and/or Bare Minerals SPF 25 year round, because when you grow up in Australia you learn not to fuck with sun exposure. If I need a normal/untinted sunblock for my face, 'Cancer Council' brand for sensitive skin is good (and I use their regular mineral sunblock for the rest of my body, too). If I'm going out at night, I use a Charlotte Tilbury foundation, which doesn't have any SPF but I still love it. I've been okay with other mineral sunblocks, but some of them leave a white cast even on my pale skin, which isn't ideal.
I tried 'Dr Dennis Gross's Alpha Beta Exfoliating Body Treatment' wipes - I think we spoke about them a while back? 😅 - and they're good! A bit pricey, but luckily I don't need to use them constantly. Still, bacne sucks over summer.
It's not skincare, but skincare adjacent: in terms of makeup, I don't wear a lot, but I like Glossier (mascara, brows and blush cream), Charlotte Tilbury (foundation, eye shadow, blush powder, bronzer, mascara and lippy), Bare Minerals (mineral veil finishing powder and eye shadow), Stila (colour correcting primer and eyeliner). And paw paw balm for lips, of course lol. I tend not to be all that adventurous once I've found something that works, for obvious reasons.
So basically, I do the following:
AM
Wash/cleanse
+ HA serum in winter
Moisturiser + sunblock (then maybe makeup)
PM
Wash/cleanse
Prescription cream, + HA serum in winter
Moisturiser only
So yeah, no 27 step beauty regimen for me, because firstly I can't be arsed, and secondly, chances are I'd react to something and spend a month babying my skin back to baseline. I'd love to be one of those people who can use all natural skincare or try almost anything once, but unfortunately it never works.
Stay tuned for me spending my time and money figuring out how to fight the inevitable fine lines and wrinkles without retinol. 😂
Weirdly specific asks.

16. Daybreak.
"How much for a room?"
The innkeeper stares. Zack stares back. He knows he's getting blood all over the floor, but it's not as if he can help it, and if the man declines to help him, then the puddle will just get larger. Finally, the innkeeper sighs, and Zack's shoulders sag in relief. "Hundred gil. Only got single beds, though."
He limps towards the desk. It takes a great deal of effort to grab his wallet, considering Cloud is still slung over his back. "That's fine." After a pause, he says, "Sorry about the mess. I'll clean—"
"Don't worry about it." The innkeeper hands him a key. "Room charge includes a cleanin' fee."
Their accommodations are filthy, but it's still better than the lab. Zack sets Cloud down on the bed, strips him of his wet clothes, and covers him with as many blankets as he can find. He still looks uncomfortable — because anybody would've been uncomfortable on such a thin mattress — so Zack takes his own pillow and shoves it underneath Cloud's head, leaving his own side bare. Finally, he collapses into a nearby armchair and watches Cloud with half-lidded, heavy eyes. "What are we gonna do?"
Cloud doesn't answer, of course. The only noise that greets Zack is the sound of the slums outside the window; the bustling crowds, loud, inhospitable, naturally wary of broad-shouldered men in sleeveless turtlenecks. It was a miracle that he'd even managed to find this inn, considering most people in Sector 7 avoided him like the plague. "We'll figure it out." Zack's voice is light, airy, confident; the opposite of what he feels inside. "It'll be fine."
---
It's not fine.
The next day dawns. Zack counts out his remaining gil. There's only enough for a week's worth of food, and that's if he stretches it. Going to the hospital isn't an option, and it's far too late to take a potion, so he eventually resorts to digging out the bullets in his torso with a pocket knife. They make a strange kind of music as they hit the bathroom sink, clinking against the porcelain, accompanied by the steady drip, drip, drip of Zack's blood. Cloud sleeps through Zack's grunts of pain, which he's grateful for — he doesn't want Cloud to see him like this.
As Zack bandages his wounds, he thinks back to the encounter that gave him all of these injuries to begin with. He's pretty sure Cloud didn't get hit by anything, but it's not as if he's conscious enough to say otherwise.
"Sorry, buddy," Zack says. "Gotta do this."
He lifts the blankets up. Cloud's torso looks fine — other than the keloid scar in the center of his chest, stark against his pale skin, and the frightening way his ribs stick out from his body, made thin by five years of stillness and artificial nutrition. Zack doesn't look for very long, because it feels weird; he's oddly flustered by the time he finishes his pseudo-examination.
Once he's finished, Zack goes to sit on the side of the bed and misses it entirely. He slowly sinks to the threadbare carpet, his shirt catching on the rough comforter as he goes down. His head is pounding, as if somebody's hammering on the insides of his brain with a hammer. "Good," he murmurs, relieved. "Just me, then."
---
Zack wakes, his head still aching, and hastily dresses in the only outfit he has. He wants to run his errands before the slums awaken, but Sector 7 is full of early birds... that are naturally wary of Shinra-issued super-soldiers. Zack arrives at a grocery store, dressed in his infamous uniform (sans pauldrons, though it doesn't help much), beelines for the produce, and promptly gets spat at over a bushel of carrots.
"I'm an ex-SOLD—" Zack sighs. The old Wutain woman walks away, muttering curses under her breath. "Nevermind."
He heads to a nearby clothing store and spends far too much money (five gil) on a new set of clothes. The turtleneck, belt, and pants find their way into a nearby dumpster. Now incognito, Zack quickly buys some necessities — food, water, more bandages, a bar of soap — and races back to the hotel room, eager to check on Cloud.
"I'm home," he announces. Cloud doesn't respond. Zack sits on the side of the bed and rifles through the grocery bags, emerging with a container of fruit. "I bought blueberries." He hastily covers his mouth with his other hand as he coughs, his chest burning from the exertion of running up the stairs. "Your—" Another cough. "Your favourite."
---
Could he be a mercenary? He doesn't see why not, really, other than the fact that somebody might recognize him (when he's supposed to be dead). Could leveraging his ex-SOLDIER status help drum up more business? Is it worth the risk? He'll figure it out in the morning, he decides. Zack lies his throbbing head down on the mattress and falls asleep, dreaming of the painkillers he'll buy with his mercenary money.
The fourth day comes. Zack opens his eyes and hisses in pain; the sunlight feels like it's burning a hole through his skull. He flips onto his stomach, seeking darkness, and hears an unfamiliar groan.
It takes him a moment to recognize the sound.
Zack leaps out of bed and immediately sways on his feet. Something is wrong, terribly wrong, but he can't let whatever it is stop him — Cloud needs him. He grabs a bottle of water, brings it to Cloud, and holds his head up so he can drink it.
As soon as the bottle's empty, Cloud asks, "Where are we?"
"Sector 7," Zack says. "The slums."
Cloud's eyes roam up and down Zack's bare torso, pausing at the blood-stained bandages. "I remember the cliff," he croaks. "I thought I dreamed it."
Zack lays back down on the hard mattress. He laughs, but there's no humor in the sound. "I wish."
The mattress squeaks as Cloud turns to face him. Zack carefully looks at him, emaniciated but animated, taking in all of the features — sunken eyes, sharp cheekbones, dry lips — that display his illness, equivalent to Zack's own sorry state. Still, there's something about the sight of Cloud that Zack finds strangely wonderful, something that makes his heart race — a feeling made stronger by the fact that it's him, awake, present, right beside him.
"We're alive," Cloud whispers in wonder.
"Yeah." Zack smiles. "We're alive."
---
Though Zack might not stay that way for long.
Day five. The morning sun burns his eyes like acid. Whatever's been plaguing Zack has grown infinitely worse, and he suspects it has something to do with one of his bullet wounds — whatever's making his bandages stain yellow rather than red. Or perhaps it's because he sat in soaked clothes for hours upon hours as he hauled Cloud to Midgar, frozen to the bone in the frigid December weather.
Or perhaps it's both.
The reason doesn't matter, really, because that's not the point. Isn't he supposed to be immune to these sorts of things? What on earth was the point of his augmentations if he still gets things like colds and infections?
Zack ventures back outside in search of medicine, for things he hasn't taken since he was a child in Gongaga, fighting against strep throat and bronchitis. He heads to the nearest pharmacy, because he still can't afford a doctor. Unfortunately, he finds out he can't afford basic remedies either.
"You got wounded?" The pharmacist says, eyes wide. "How long ago?"
"Five days."
"Way too late for a potion," he murmurs. He looks Zack up and down, then rifles underneath the counter. "I'm not supposed to sell these without a prescription, but..." He rings up the antibiotics. "Two hundred gil."
Zack grimaces. "I have fifty."
The pharmacist directs Zack to the veterinarian next door: somebody who sells drugs under the table for cheap. Zack pays ten gil for a bottle of canine antibiotics (which is still too much, but he can't take care of Cloud if he's dead himself) and stumbles back outside. His head swims as he wobbles down the street, knocking shoulders with Sector 7's many residents. He hits one woman particularly hard. "Sorry," he slurs.
The black-haired woman whirls around to face him. She gasps. "Wait—"
"Sorry."
The woman says something else, but Zack rushes forward, eager to get back to Cloud. He makes it back to the inn (though he's not quite sure how), tears his way back into the room, and promptly rushes for the toilet. The bile tears through his esophagus as it comes up, leaving his throat raw and scorched in its wake.
Something crashes in the bedroom. Zack looks over the rim and sees Cloud crawling towards him, a blanket tangled around his legs. "Are you okay? What happened?"
"Nothing," Zack insists, though he's sure he's not doing a very convincing job of it. He flushes the bile away. "Got meds."
Cloud hunts around for the bag that Zack dropped on the floor. Exhausted, he leans back on the bathroom cupboard, rips the bag open, and inspects the bottle. "This says 'for Fido'."
"He said something about 'equivalent doses'," Zack groans. "No idea what that means."
Somehow, he musters up the energy to pull himself up to the sink so he can brush his teeth. Cloud crawls up with him, using the counter as leverage. The image in the mirror is a frightening sight; Zack can barely recognize himself. Cloud reaches up and pulls a sweat-soaked strand of hair from Zack's temple. "When was the last time either of us showered?"
Zack grimaces as he thinks back. "Five years ago?"
It's a good thing they decide to shower together, because they end up having to hold each other up. Cloud doesn't have the dexterity to unbutton his own pants, so Zack does it for him; Zack doesn't have the strength to lift his arms above his head, so Cloud hooks his arms underneath Zack's shirt and pulls. They take turns scrubbing each other clean, trying to make up for each other's deficiencies. Zack's bandages get soaked, but he simply doesn't have the energy to care. "Bend down," Cloud says. "I'll get your hair."
The hot water doesn't last long. Strength spent, they end up on the floor, gasping for air and clutching each other for warmth. Zack's feverish forehead lands on Cloud's cold shoulder; the sensation makes him groan in relief, even though the rest of his body is frozen to the bone. "We might have to stay here forever," Cloud gasps. "I don't have the strength to haul you up."
Zack slowly drags his head up. Droplets of cold water drip down Cloud's chin, his jaw, his neck, collecting in the hollow of his throat. Zack's mouth is impossibly dry; if he didn't know any better, he might've tried to drink from it. "I'd be fine with that," he admits.
---
"Why did you give me your pillow?"
Zack drags his eyes open. Dim streaks of light pierce through the blinds, highlighting the dust in the air. The clock on the nightstand reads 5:30 AM. "You needed it more."
"How?" Cloud croaks. "I was unconscious."
Zack doesn't have a good answer for that, so he stays silent. Cloud sighs and tugs at his shoulders. "Roll over," he says, and Zack slowly complies. His head lands in the center of Cloud's chest — a much comfier surface than the hard mattress. "Stupid," Cloud whispers into his hair. "You're so stupid."
They slowly drift back to sleep. Zack dreams of everything — his childhood in Gongaga, his days as a SOLDIER, the bloodshed in Wutai, the pain, the glory, the atrocities, all blending together into a whirlpool of dreams and nightmares. At the center of the maelstrom, always present, is the laboratory and the years he spent with Cloud, so close and yet so far, within arm's reach but miles away. In his dreams, the glass is impenetrable, no matter how hard he tries to smash it; his screams are muffled by the mako that spills into his throat, filling his lungs, robbing him of freedom.
But not anymore.
Cloud is here. He's in front of him, beneath him, warm, breathing and alive. Cloud's arms rise up to hold him, enveloping Zack in a comforting warmth that feels like home; Zack's hands clutch at Cloud's shirt as if it's the only thing tethering him to the Planet. The fabric underneath his eyes quickly grows damp.
"Still feverish," Cloud whispers, his lips moving against Zack's forehead.
"Yeah?" Zack mumbles, as if he can't tell — though he obviously can. His head is swimming; he feels like a child again, sitting in the bow of his dad's fishing boat, feeling the ocean tug him to and fro. "Not enough dog meds."
"I'll go get them."
Zack's arms tighten around Cloud's waist. "Don't," he says. "They're not doing anything anyway."
"You have to keep taking them for them to work," Cloud argues. He eventually wiggles out from underneath him, though Zack does his best to make him stay put. An eternity passes before he returns, medicine and water in hand. "Open your mouth."
Zack's throat, still raw from bile, aches as he swallows the pills down. Cloud puts the medicine aside and collapses on top of him, utterly spent. They lay there for a while, arms twisted around each other, Zack taking comfort in Cloud's steady heartbeat. "Don't know what I'd do if I lost you," Cloud whispers.
Zack gently runs his fingers through Cloud's sweat-soaked hair. "You'd be fine."
"No," Cloud quietly argues. "No, I wouldn't."
Zack slowly sinks back into unconsciousness. For once, he dreams of nothing; his mind is a dark, cool abyss, a refuge from the fever. When he's pulled back into the world of the living, his surroundings are much of the same. Zack awakens to soft fingers running through his hair, stroking his burning forehead, caressing his sunken cheeks. Is he still dreaming? "Don't stop," Zack croaks. "Feels good."
The stroking continues. The fingers trace his brow, the slope of his nose, the bow of his parched mouth, thumb swiping against his bottom lip — where they suddenly stop. Zack opens his mouth to speak, to breathe, to ask for more, when something else presses against his lips: a mouth as chapped as his own.
The kiss is light, because it has to be; even in his dreams, there's no energy for passion. In its absence, the gentlest of movements becomes profound. Zack sighs as he gently presses his lips to Cloud's, swipes his tongue against his bottom lip, seeking his warmth. A shiver tears through him as Cloud's tongue brushes against his own—
—until Cloud abruptly pulls away. He coughs, his chest rattling as he desperately tries to catch his breath. Zack holds him tight and rubs his back until the coughing fit passes. "Shh," he whispers against Cloud's forehead. "Shh."
Cloud eventually stills. Zack can tell he's feverish too; the skin underneath his lips is hot to the touch. "Sorry," Cloud croaks. The misery in his voice makes Zack's chest hurt. "I'm sorry."
Zack shakes his head. What on earth could he ever be sorry for? "Don't be."
They lay there for what feels like an eternity. Zack drifts in and out of consciousness, through the past and present. The fever tries to pull him under, but he briefly comes up for air. "I'll kiss you properly," Zack croaks, "when we're better."
Cloud's arms tighten around him. "We're not getting better."
He's right. Zack's fever persists, no matter what meds he throws at it; he can feel death hovering nearby, waiting to pull him into the ether. "If you can move," Zack slowly says, "I want you to go to the hospital. Don't—" He coughs. "Don't worry about the—"
Cloud inches himself up Zack's body and kisses him again. He coughs, then kisses the corner of Zack's mouth, coughs, then kisses his cheek; the hacking sound is loud and startling, as if it's tearing his lungs into two. "Shut up," he says. "I'm not leaving you."
Zack's eyes close against his will, robbing him of the opportunity to argue. As he slowly sinks into darkness, he feels something wet drip onto his face, like a familiar droplet of rain from a stormy sky. If he were to open his eyes, would he see dark clouds? Would he still be on the cliff, lying in the torrent, waiting for death?
He opens his mouth to the rain, eager to soothe his parched throat, and tastes salt on his tongue.
---
Zack awakens. The light behind his closed eyelids is warm, soothing, like the sunlight that dries the earth after a storm. A soft breeze brushes against his neck, stirring his hair.
"Hey."
Zack cracks his mouth open. "Hey," he croaks.
The weight of Cloud's body pushes him into the ground. Is he alive? Dead? Has he always been dead? Zack doesn't know much about the afterlife, but he knows it's supposed to be a paradise, and an eternity with Cloud is the closest he'll ever get to it.
The sunlight grows warmer, enveloping him from within. The pain in his body ebbs, replaced by something that Zack can only describe as peace. "I love you," Cloud says.
He turns his head towards the sound. "I love you too," he says, smiling. "Always have."
Another sound slowly enters Zack's consciousness; two sets of heavy boots, smacking against wooden floors. "Somebody's coming," Cloud says. "Shinra?"
Zack wraps his arms around Cloud, holding him tight, tighter, until they're as close as two people could possibly be. Their bodies meld into one entity, one soul, impossible to separate, together for eternity. "I'm not going anywhere without you," Cloud says.
The boots come to a stop. "No," Zack agrees, shaking his head. "Never."
Knock.
Every single thing Zack meant to say over the past five years comes out in a rush. "I love you," he croaks, because he can never say it enough. "I love you, I love you—"
Knock. Knock. Knock.
"I love you too," Cloud says, his voice thick with tears.
"What are you tryin' to do, tear the damn door down?!" the innkeeper growls. "Hold on. I've got a key."
It doesn't matter. None of it does. It doesn't matter what will happen, if they're alive or dead or somewhere in between, if they're spirits wandering through the ether, souls flitting through hazy dreams — because they'll always have each other.
"I love you."
The door opens.

After 3 months of splitting headache and earache i finally see the doctor, 1 week into antibiotics nothing’s changed, bp is in the toilet, i look like a zombie. I go to recheck my prescription and squint at it from different angles. Notice the 12 at the bottom? hunt through a mountain of papers for my last sinusitus scrip. It’s a 2, i’ve been taking a half dose because my Dr can’t write. I’m both relieved -your brain starts to worry about superbugs from neglect- and really annoyed - and no, annoyance isn’t enough to get your bp up, not that i havn’t tried over the years LOL-.
Anyway, in comes a commission request right as i was feeling like I might not reroot or anything until next spring and just hibernate instead and couldn’t face replying. Now that treatment’s back on track, I’m more hopeful and said Yes. I ended doing a bunch of swatching for nowt as the client *did* mean yarn not fibre LMAO. This is a Clawdia from @musicalmeowsandcandiedlemons who got a semi-failed ethoxylated alcohol treatment as the remaining glue broke down a few months later. Her cute face is so versatile I couldn’t decide between ruby and black with maybe a white or yellow streak or leaning into into blues and greens as contrast colours to make the face pop but that meant researching nylons. Client would like a natural braided look and no wolf ears so I suspect she’s going be human, maybe a vampire! I’ve shaved down her ears and added a dollop of e6000 to each hole, now we wait 3 days for it to set. Clawdia’s got a well designed smile that feels enthusiastic. She’s going to look great with a bigger hairdo. The e6000 setting gives me some time to recoup too.

Cataracts - What Surgery Is Like
As previously mentioned, I’d developed cataracts and am now going through surgery for them, and have elected to document a bit about what it’s all like from my viewpoint. Mostly because I think it’d make a nice reference for anyone wanting to write with some degree of accuracy about what it’s like from the inside.
This post contains a description of the surgical process involved and what that actually feels like, I’m trying not to be overly graphic but I’m also not elliding over any of the grosser bits (thankfully and surprisingly very little).
First off, a descriptiong of the preliminaries. This started for me with my vision going blurry over the last couple of years, and finally getting around to visiting my old optomitrist when I happened to be in Toronto over last Christmas (as my one up north just retired a couple years ago, and I hadn’t replaced her yet). Of the several potential causes for the vision loss I was experiecing, what I had turned out to be cataracts, of the variety that occurs at the back of the lens and therefor doesn’t cause easily-visible clouding. Which I actually said “Oh, thank god!” to when the optomitrist told me, since they are the absolute easiest thing to fix, while some of the other options (detached retina, or diabetes-related macular degradation, to name a couple) are much less so. Then he gave me a reference to an opthamologist. Thanks to COVID-19, it was this fall before I was finally able to actually get to the clinic and see her.
From my point of view, the process then went pretty quickly. Note that I was at an eye institute that specializes in cataract treatment; everything is contained in one building (a nicely renovated Victorian brick house in the Annex area of Toronto). So all tests and surgery are done on premises.
First appointment there, they did the same sort of vision tests my optomitrist generally does, plus some extra inner-eye photography to get a good look at what was going on. This was done by two different people, one doing the eye-chart related tests and a different one doing the photography. Then I met briefly with my doctor, who looked over my questionnaire (which included questions like whether near, mid, or distance vision was most important to me, and was there a focal distance I particularly needed to be glasses free for, etc.), and that I didn’t need nor have interest in a lens replacement that wasn’t covered under our provincial health care.
A week later I returned for them to perform eye measurement tests, which are used as a basis for manufacturing the replacement lens. They measure the size and shape of the eye, and mostly just involved staring into various machines while photos are taken. The weirdest one, which they did last, involved dripping numbing drops into my eyes, and then lightly pressing a small sensor to multiple places both directly on the eyeballs and then on the closed lids. Something to do with viscosity I’d assume.
And now for a description of the general surgical process, which you can also find summarized (or in more detail) at a number of medical web sites. In my case, it was a pretty basic surgery being performed; the opthamologist needed to make a small slit in the outer layer of my eye, used a tiny probe to break down the lens using ultrasound waves, vacuum out the broken down lens, then use a largish needle to insert a folded plastic lens into the eye, where it would unfold within the capsular space and could be tweaked as needed into the correct position. The cut in the eye is tiny enough that it usually doesn’t even need stitching, apparently.
I was asked to arrive at a specific time, and had to start applying dilating drops to my eyes an hour, half-hour, and five minutes before leaving for the clinic. No nail polish or facial makeup. Preferable wearing comfortable pants and a loosely short-sleeved button front shirt without any undershirt or long underwear beneath it (which turns out to be a “just in case things go crazily sideways” measure; they didn’t actually need to access anything on my torso).
The first step after I arrived at the clinic was being dressed in PPE - one of their own disposable masks to be sure I was wearing a good enough one (that wasn’t coated in whatever mine had picked up outside), a hair cap, a long-sleeved thigh-length blue plasticized robe (it had thumb holes to prevent the sleeves from slipping), and booties over my shoes.
Then I was taken to their surgical floor, where a nurse began a series of eye drops. These included more dilation, an antispectic, and an antibiotic, that I can remember - multiple drops of all. She also gave me a teeny tiny pill to place under my tongue and let dissolved, which contained a small dose of a relaxant/anti-anxiety med (Sorry, she told me the name of it at the time but it’s dropped out of my memory). I didn’t notice any particular change in my mood, but then I’d been counting slow deep breaths since arriving (4 seconds in, 4 seconds out...) to help keep myself relaxed and give myself something to focus on that wasn’t omfg I’m going to be awake during this! Because yeah, not having a clue what it was going to be like was stressful. Nurse also took my blood pressure to be sure I was fine in that regards, and put a sticker on the gown to remind the doctor that it was my right eye being done that day.
After a brief wait, I was moved into one of the surgical theatres, where there was a dentist chair they sat me in, then connected a blood pressure cuff, fingertip monitor (hence the no nail polish rule) and sensors on the backs of both hands and one ankle (I’m assuming those were measuring a mix of blood oxygenation and heartbeat, with the ankle one making sure my feet were still getting blood when I was spending the surgery in what ended up as a tipped-over-backwards with head lowest position). They then rinsed my eye and the orbital area with bactine (very yellow vision while that happens), then patted the area around the eye dry.
The doctor sat at my head, and applied a medical drape with a pre-cut adhesive-edged opening over my eye, then peeled off a translucent applique that was over the hole. Then they applied medical clamps that held my eyelids in the open position (which thanks to the numbing drops, I didn’t feel at all). A brightly lighted microscope was then positioned over the eye, and I was told to stay as still as possible and stare at the red dot in the lighted area. The doctor then did the surgery as described above. From my point of view, there was very little to feel; occasional dull pressure, some random coldness that I believe was the eye being irrigated. I could hear the occasional very quiet noise the probe made as the lens was sucked away, but mostly it was just staring at the red light as well as I could while my vision distorted oddly and I continue counting breaths. Within what felt like no more than 5-10 minutes (if that), it was all over with.
They had me continue to lie there for a couple minutes while they peeled off the drape, wiped the eye area clean, and removed all the sensors, then a brief rest before having me sit up.
I blinked once or twice, and... DAMN! Sudden near-perfect vision in an eye that hasn’t seen clearly without help since I was in single digit ages. And the saturation. The detail.
Now, my left eye of course still has a cataract (it gets treated next week). I’d been telling people for a while that basically all my right eye was seeing was blur, so my left eye was doing most of the seeing, and I thought my left eye wasn’t anywhere near as bad as my right. With my right eye now seeing perfectly, I could now alternate opening eyes from side to side, and see just how badly (and irregularly) blurred and yellowed the left lens actually is. To which I can only saw, WTF, how was I even seeing anything at all!?
Then they had me sit for a while in the waiting area, where the doctor came and double-checked I was fine, and gave me a kit in a plastic bag of a card that identifies that I have an interocular lens (and info about it), a prescription for two different eye drops (antibiotic and anti-inflamatory) which was enough for both this eye and the eye getting operated on next week, and a shield to wear at night for the first five nights, to be sure I don’t accidentally rub it or put pressure on it.
Then I put on sunglasses (because hugely dilated eye) and walked out.
Side note - they won’t do your operation unless you have a ride home arranged; because that tiny pill means you’re in a slightly altered state, among other reasons. Good thing it was my brother and not, say, a taxi, since among other things it took us three drugstores to find one that actually had both kinds of eyedrops in stock, yay super fun.
Also, remember me talking about the starburst rays I was seeing around lights due to cataracts? While my eye was still dilated (which lasted until after midnight) I was seeing what I can only describe as ‘Ferris wheels’ - a burst of rays expanding out like the spokes of a wheel, and ending in an uneven ring of dots of bright light, each wheel matching the colour of the light causing it. Looked wild at night. Thankfully that effect has now gone away.
Had a follow-up appointment this morning where they did an eye chart and the rebounce test where they puff air at your cornea, and the opthamologist says the vision in that eye tested as 20/20 (WOOO! Finally something good with that number). I can see sharply and clearly for blocks from the mid-range on out. Sadly when I try to use my computer, tablet, etc (near-range and close vision) the eye can’t focus down far enough; some of that may improve over the next month or two as the eye continues healing, and adapting to the lens. In the meantime my sister suggested I try a pair of her reading glasses and, yay, that worked. I am now planning that after my follow-up appointment for next week’s surgery on the left eye, I’ll run around and pick up 2-3 pairs of reading glasses of various strengths (which I will get will depend on what seems to work best with arm’s length and close-in viewing), to carry me through until I go back to an optomitrist in a month or three, and get my vision evaluated to see if I need actual prescription reading and/or far distance glasses.
In the meantime, apart from computer/tablet use, I am glasses free. I can’t even remember ever having such sharp, clear, and saturated vision (since I’ve been in glasses for such a long time). You know the “oh, trees are made of leaves!” effect? I am getting that with every single thing I look at. Oh, that’s how much grey is in my hair? Weird, I never noticed this wall was textured before. Oh geez, that text over there is so small and yet I AM READING IT. I mean, even with glasses I probably was never able to read that from this distance! Etc ad infinitum.
It’s just so, so nice.
And that’s with just one eye finished. I am now really looking forward to next week’s surgery. Stress? What stress!?

Cannabidiol, The Wonder Drug of the Future
Cannabidiol, also known as CBD is an important cannabidiol derivative found in marijuana. Cannabidiol is also one of the handful of identified naturally occurring cannabidiols in cannabis and constitutes up to 40 % of the total plant's extract. The other half belongs to another group of cannabidiols called CBG or cannabidiolates. This specific component of marijuana is thought to act as a weaker version of THC, the chemical substance found in marijuana that has been proven highly dangerous to humans. However, researchers have shown that Cannabidiol has some distinct health benefits that may be beneficial to human health.
Cannabidiol may benefit us in a number of ways, one of them being reducing the signs of aging. Research shows that CBD reduces the appearance of 'age' on the skin by acting as an anti-inflammatory and possibly an anti-oxidant. This also means it may prevent some of the damage caused by the damage to our arteries, as well as slowing the aging process.
Since using cannabidiol can help reduce the pain of certain medical conditions like glaucoma, and seizures in epileptic patients, it is being used more frequently in treating such conditions. Glaucoma is usually treated with a combination of aspirin and an anti-seizure drug. The risk of losing control during a seizure can be a major problem for patients using this method of treatment, which many people do not want to undertake. The side effects of taking epilepsy medication, for example, can include loss of consciousness and sometimes death. However, using cannabidiol to treat glaucoma may help prevent a potentially fatal situation.
Another medical condition treated with cannabidiol is epilepsy. epilepsy patients are often given large doses of cannabidiol (and in some cases, a CBD extract) to relieve the pain caused by their seizures. However, because CBD is not able to cross the blood brain barrier, it has no effect on epilepsy patients when it comes to reducing the electrical activity of the seizures. Also, the level of cannabidiol required to relieve the patient's symptoms is very high, which means it would have to be taken on a daily basis over a long period of time to achieve any benefit. This can only be done with the use of a special cannabidiol supplement, which is available from health stores and online.
Cannabidiol, like many other medicinal plants, might decrease the effectiveness of other medications. Research has not established whether or not CBD is compatible with certain types of medications, although it has been shown that it might decrease the effectiveness of at least two medications used to treat serious diseases, such as cancer and HIV. It might even interact with many prescription and non-prescription medications, such as anti-depressants, antibiotics, antidepressants, corticosteroids, birth control pills, nicotine and many others. It is important to talk to your doctor if you intend to take cannabidiol for any of these conditions.
Cannabidiol, because it is not a known metabolism enhancer, may cause sleepiness while it is being used to treat a disorder. This is called side effects, and there are different types of side effects, depending on the disorder. The most common is a decrease in libido, which may cause sleepiness during the daytime. Some researchers believe that cannabidiol might increase levels of melatonin, which might help prevent jet lag.
Sleepiness or lack of sleep, as noted above, is usually caused by other factors, such as anxiety or depression. However, in some cases, the lack of sleep caused by the presence of cannabidiol can be due to an allergy to pollen, environmental pollutants, or a strong odour. Early research suggests that cannabidiol use is not recommended for people who are prone to allergies. In fact, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently warned that there might be an increased risk of dying or going blind from using it to treat ADHD. This is one of the first signs of serious side effects that can occur.
Cannabidiol, like most other plant extracts, undergo phase II of human clinical testing, which is designed to confirm its safety and efficacy in humans. In this phase, scientists use double blind, randomized, placebo-controlled studies to test the effects of Cannabidiol on behavior, health, and wellness. Early research indicates that cannabidiol has some positive effect on neuropsychological disorders such as attention deficit disorder (ADD; also referred to as hyperactivity) and schizophrenia. But the real potential benefits of cannabidiol lie in its potential to treat ailments associated with aging skin and mucosal lining, and inflammation, such as Crohn's disease, ulcers, colitis, arthritis, and even certain forms of cancer. If further clinical trials confirm these indications, Cannabidiol could prove to be an extremely important additional addition to the current arsenal of treatment options for Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorders.

Day 2 (11th of February) - “That might just be the least romantic thing you’ve ever said to me” @buddietinesweek
Love sick
Buck was waiting on his doctor to come back with his results. She'd said his throat looked irritated then took a swab.
He wasn't feeling too hot. Or, well that wasn't the right way of putting it. He felt like his skin was on fire to top off his throat hurting.
"Mr. Buckley." She pulled him out of his phone where he was watching short videos while he was alone to try cheering himself up.
"Just Buck is fine." Buck forced a smile once he finished coughing.
"Well, your results came back as streptococcal pharyngitis. Strep throat. That's what's causing your fever. We'll get you on some oral antibiotics." At buck's gulping which made him wince she continued.
"I'd advise you need to avoid others for a few weeks at the least. You can come back in a week or so for a checkup though. I'm sure you already know not to share any fluids with others." At buck's nod she went on.
"Be sure to keep as clean as you can as it can be passed on easily to those around you through sneezing and coughing. The nurse at the front desk can take your insurance and set up where you want your prescription to go before you leave. You didn't have any questions sir?"
"But Valentine's in less than a week." Buck groaned.
"I'm sure you're partner would like to stay healthy and you wouldn't want to pass it on to people you love." She said.
"Yeah, yeah. I don't have to like it." Buck huffed as he got up to go.
This was just great. His first Valentine's day with Eddie since last year when they got together after it had already passed. Buck couldn't catch a break. But he'd be damned if he let himself infect Christopher and Eddie with this. He felt miserable and he wouldn’t wish this on anyone.
His trip out towards his jeep and eventually to the store for cleaning supplies and comfort food while waiting for his drugs was a blur. Buck's pretty sure he could double for a zombie with how he looked but made sure to keep to himself avoiding a cart for his arms and hands. His cough drops were helping too.
Soon he was on his way home to spread the news. Casa de Buckley was off limits till further notice. He took his first dose with food and sent out the mass text. Bobby would have to coordinate things till Buck was 100% again.
Buck decided to call Eddie instead though to both be more personal with his boyfriend and hear his comforting voice.
"Hey Buck, how are you babe?" He heard that smile.
"I'm sweating because my brains melting, and my throat feels like a bee stung my insides, but all i can think about is not being able to kiss you or see Christopher,"
"Wait. You're sick? But I just saw you yesterday”
"Yeah."
"I'm coming over."
"No! Eddie I'm not getting you sick with my dick or yours for that matter no matter how hot and sweet you are fever delusions or not and that's final. I'll barricade my door if I have to. Don't test me man. Please," Buck started coughing only to sigh.
“That might just be both the most and least romantic thing you’ve ever said to me”
"Just keep talking. I like the sound of your voice Eds. And I might owe you a rain check for valentine's,"
"Ok. But you're more important than some holiday. Do you wanna talk to Christopher too?"
"Sure. I gotta explain why movie nights cancelled. Let me drink something, "
"It was game night. I'll get him."
"Right. I'm sick cut me a break" buck laughed.
"Hi buck." Christopher's voice brought a smile to his face.
"Hey buddy." Buck replied.
"Are you ok?"
"No buddy I'm sick. But I'll be better in maybe over a week. The doctor got me medicine to help but hearing you guys is good too." Buck said.
Christopher told him about his day after Eddie got home along with Eddie saying what they'd gotten up to at work. Buck replied when he could until he was snoring.
"Daddy, i think buck fell asleep." Christopher whispered.
"Yeah. Say good night."
Christopher did then handed back the phone.
Eddie went to his room. He'd put Christopher to sleep in another half hour. He left the call connected even if someone else might find it odd. Buck was his boyfriend so he could do that right?
He'd fall asleep to the sound of Buck once he put Christopher to bed a few minutes later.
-
It'd been a few days. Well four to be exact.
Eddie had wormed his way inside despite buck's protests. They didn't kiss and barely held hands as they watched a movie while buck's soup cooked.
"I can't figure out how I got sick still" buck said as Eddie brought him a bowl.
"It could have been the smallest thing. Don't worry about it. Just get better and if you're not okay by valentine's then we'll do something else later." Eddie turned off the TV.
"What?" Buck blew his spoon away from Eddie.
"I'm gonna go. Finish your soup then take a nap Buck. Love you." Eddie moved to kiss Buck on reflex.
Buck tucked his head as Eddie's lips met his hairline and forehead near his birthmark.
"Oh. Sorry. I guess I forgot,”
"You're not getting sick. I love you too much for that." Buck smiled as Eddie left.
-
It was valentine's day. Outside of Maddie and Chimney coming over to check up on him his place was still quarantined.
Buck sat alone in his apartment as his favorite show was ending.
Eddie hadn't said much about today during their nightly check ins with Christopher too.
The door opened to Eddie bringing in a pizza.
"Eddie-"
"I know, no kissing or sex,I'm not a caveman Buck."
Buck snickered.
"Stop laughing." Eddie said lightly as he got them drinks.
"You've gotta admit you walked into that one even if your are pretty good at it mister punchy."
They had space between them as Buck found a romcom to watch.
Half way through Buck turned it off as the guy was way too creepy even if he was hot.
Eddie switched the TV over as Buck asked. "So Christopher okay?"
"He misses you, same as me. He's with my Tia tonight and his cousin."
"Wait. What are you doing? You can’t sleep over Eddie even if I feel a little better.”
"Relax it’s just for the surprise part of our date night. I had to go to two stores for this and it wasn't even the version I wanted."
Buck watched as a Sims game booted up on his console.
"Okay?" He still didn't get it.
"At least one version of me can kiss you tonight. Come on, we're gonna make you first. Think this game says they even got supernatural stuff in it too." Eddie started on the character creation.
Buck found it entirely hilarious but also incredibly thoughtful. With Eddie's character finished and them looking for passable doppelgangers they began the game.
They kissed as a fire started in the kitchen only for the fire department to show up and save them.
Eddie had them get in the hot tub as music was playing. It was nice until their random visiting neighbor died summoning death.
"Okay this is just weird now." Buck said as he flirted with the grim reaper making Eddie jealous.
"How could you cheat on me with death?" Eddie asked incredulously.
"I just did it. Relax it’s not like I really like them. Oh." Buck watched his avatar hug death.
"I'm a werewolf?!" Eddie asked as the moon rose transforming him.
"Dude. Death just proposed to me and I turned them down for you. Wait, now I'm a zombie?"
Eddie turned off the game after that.
"Okay. Maybe that wasn't a good idea."
"No. It was great. I haven't laughed like that all week. Real me would never cheat on you, you're it for me." Buck leaned in absentmindedly as Eddie smiled before remembering and leaning away.
"Want another slice?" Eddie got up.
"Yeah. I can't have you in me so I guess I'll just have to settle for that." Buck joked startling Eddie to drop his plate into the sink.
"Buck you can't just say that.I’m only human, it’s hard not jumping your bones babe. But I'm glad you're feeling better." Eddie said while taking the second controller and moving it before sitting back down.
"The second I'm cleared of the zombie virus I'm gonna be all over you." Buck said devouring his food with fervor.
"I look forward to it. But until then this is a good date because I'm spending it with you." Eddie said drinking his lime soda before enjoying another slice.
"I owe Christopher hugs and kisses too so he's first then I'm all yours." Buck winked.
"All mine you say, hmm. I like the sound of that. The things we could do." Eddie raised his eyebrow.
"Just keep that thought for a few more days and hope my doctor tells me I'm all good." Buck grinned.
"You're more than good." Eddie said.
"You know what I meant."
"Yeah. But it's still true."
They were back to it now watching an action movie.
Eddie was glad Buck didn't look so down anymore. He'd wait a lifetime for buck, he was worth it.

Medicine Chest in Your Backyard-The Lost Book Of Remedies Pdf Download
What could be much easier than growing an herb garden with no effort? Naturally, you'll have to harvest your weeds, however, you would do that anyhow: it's called weeding.
Spring is a particularly fertile time for gathering your weeds - roots and all - and turning them into medicines. Here then are some suggestions on how to find, harvest, prepare, and utilize a baker's dozen (13) of common weeds that probably currently grow around you.
To make your medicines you'll require glass jars of numerous sizes with tight-fitting lids. And a minimum of a pint each of apple cider vinegar (pasteurized), vodka (100 proof is best, but 80 proof will do), and pure olive oil (not additional virgin) or good quality animal fat such as lanolin, lard, or stomach fat from a lamb or kid. You will likewise want a knife, a cutting board, and some rags to mop up spills.
In general, you will fill a container (of any size) with coarsely-chopped fresh, but dry, plant product. (Do not wash any part of the plant other than roots, if you are using them, and be sure to dry those well with a towel before putting them in your container.) Then you will fill the jar with your menstruum, which is the vinegar, the oil, or the alcohol. Label well and permit to stand at space temperature level, out of the sunshine for at least 6 weeks prior to decanting and utilizing. (See my book Recovery Wise for more specific info on making preparations.).
A field guide is practical for positively recognizing your weeds. The one I like best is A Guide to the Recognition of New Zealand Common Weeds in Colour, complied by E. A. Upritchard. (Offered from the New Zealand Weed And Pest Control Society, P.O. Box 1654, Palmerston North) This book even shows you how the weeds look when they are emerging.
Ready? OK! Let's go outside with a plant id guide or skilled herbalist and see what we can find.
Shepherd's purse (Capsella bursa pastoris) is an annual in the mustard family. Cut the leading half of the plant when it has actually formed its little heart-shaped "bags" (seed pods) and make a tincture (with alcohol), which you can use to stop bleeding. Midwives and females who bleed greatly during their period praise their timely effectiveness. Gypsies claim it works on the stomach and lungs too. A dose is 1 dropperful (1ml); which may be duplicated up to four times a day.
Cleavers (Gallium aparine) is a persistent, sticky plant that grows profusely in abandoned lots and the edges of cultivated land. The entire plant is used to reinforce the lymphatic activity. I cut the top two-thirds of each plant while it is in flower (or setting seeds) and utilize alcohol to make a tincture that relieves tender, swollen breasts, PMS symptoms, and allergic reactions. A dose is 15-25 drops (.5 - 1 ml); repeated as needed.
Chickweed (Stellaria media) has many usages, consisting of scrumptious salad greens. I cut the whole top of the plant and consume it or utilize alcohol to make a tincture, which dissolves cysts, tonifies the thyroid, and aids in weight-loss. Dosage is a dropperful (1 ml), up to 3 times a day.
Daisy (Bellis perennis) is a typical perennial weed of yards and open locations. Rather different from the native daisy (Lagenifera petiolata), the little English daisy is related to feverfew and has similar capabilities. I use the leaves and flowers to make a cast (with alcohol) or medicinal vinegar which eliminates headaches, muscle pain, and allergy signs. Dosage is a dropper full of the tincture (1 ml), approximately twice a day; or a tablespoon of the vinegar in the early morning.
Dandelion (Taraxacum Officinalis) is a persistent seasonal of lawns and gardens and among the very best known medical herbs worldwide. (The native dandelion of New Zealand - Taraxacum magellanicum - is medical too.)
Those who enjoy a pure green yard curse the warm yellow flowers of typical dandelion. But those who want to see charm anywhere (such as kids and herbalists) treasure this weed. You can use any part of the dandelion - the root, the leaves, the flowers, even the flower stalk - to make a cast or medical vinegar which reinforces the liver.
A dosage of 10-20 drops of the tincture (.5 -1 ml) eases gas, heartburn, and indigestion, in addition to promoting healthy bowel movements. A tablespoon of the vinegar works well, too. More importantly, taken before meals, dandelion boosts the production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach, hence increasing the bio-availability of many nutrients, especially calcium.
The fresh or prepared green leaves are filled with carotenes, those anti-cancer, anti-heart disease helpers. And the oil of the flowers is a crucial massage balm for preserving healthy breasts. (There's lots more information on dandelions in Healing Wise.).
Dock, also called yellow dock, curly dock, and broad dock is a seasonal plant, which my Native American grandmas use for "all females' problems." The Maori call it Pae Whenua or runa. It is another plant that disagrees with sheep, especially when the land is overgrazed.
I dig the yellow roots of Rumex Crispus or R. obtusifolius and tincture them in alcohol to utilize as an ally when the body's immune system or the liver requires help. A dose is 15-25 drops (.5 -1 ml). I also gather the leaves and/or seeds throughout the growing season and make medicinal vinegar, taken a tablespoon at a time, which is used to increase blood levels of iron, lower menstrual flooding and cramping, and balance hormone levels.
If the chopped roots are taken in oil for six weeks, the resulting lotion is advantageous for keeping the breasts healthy.
Groundsel (Senecio vulgaris) and Ragwort (Senecio jacobea) are hardy perennials that have credibility for poisoning animals, like their cousin tansy. Although bad for sheep, these 2 Senecios are some of the world's most ancient healing plants, having actually been discovered in a severe 60,000 years of age.
You can utilize the blooming tops and leaves with your alcohol to make a tincture which acts gradually to tonify the reproductive organs, ease PMS, and stop extreme menstrual pain. Dosage is 5-10 drops (.2 -.5 ml) daily, utilized just once a day, but for at least 3 months. (A bigger dosage is utilized to accelerate labor.).
Mallows (Malva neglecta, M. parviflora, M. Sylvestre) grow well in disregarded gardens and are remarkably deep-rooted. The flowers, leaves, stalks, seeds, and roots are abundant in sticky mucilage which is finest extracted by soaking the fresh plant in cold water overnight or longer or by making a medical vinegar.
The starch is extraordinarily soothing internally (reducing sore throats, upset stomachs, heartburn, irritable bowel, colic, constipation, and gastrointestinal disorder) and externally (relieving bug bites, burns, sprains, and aching eyes). The leaves, flowers, and bark (especially) of the native Hohere (Hoheria populnea) are utilized in precisely the same way by Maori herbalists.
Plantain, likewise called ribwort, pig's ear, and the bandaid plant is a typical weed of yards, driveways, parks, and playgrounds. Determine it by the 5 parallel veins running the length of each leaf. The flowering tops are collected after they begin to bloom (generally on Solstice, June 21) and prepared with alcohol, and with oil, to make two of the most beneficial remedies in my first-aid package.
Tincture of St. Joan's wort not just lends one a warm disposition, it dependably alleviates muscle aches, is an effective anti-viral and is my first-choice treatment for those with shingles, sciatica, back pain, neuralgia, and headaches consisting of migraines. In extreme pain from a muscle spasm in my thigh, I utilized a dropperful every twenty minutes for two hours, or until the pain totally subsided. Contrary to common belief, St. Joan's wort does not cause sun level of sensitivity; it avoids it. It even prevents burns from radiation treatment. Eases sore muscles, too.
Self-recover (Prunella vulgaris) This odorless perennial mint is one of the great unsung therapists in the world.
You may discover broadleaf plantain (Plantago significant) with broad leaves or narrow leaf plantain (Plantago lanceolata) with lance-thin leaves.
